No one really wants to think about December in July. But as a nonprofit there’s no ignoring the surge of fundraising that happens during the season of giving. In fact, our own research shows that a whopping one-third of the year’s fundraising activity happens in December with the average online donation amount being as much as 50% higher than any other time of year.
So how do you win a share of this pie?
Well, one strategy that worked for many nonprofits last year was to participate in the first ever #GivingTuesday on November 27, 2012. The success of this movement, plus the heightened attention the day gave to the idea of charitable giving this holiday, proves how essential end of year fundraising is for nonprofits. (Check out our Infographic on why December is so important).
So why are we talking about December now? Well, while many nonprofits got a boost from #GivingTuesday, just as many, if not more, missed the boat because they weren't ready.
Here at Salsa we have a number of resources that can help you take advantage of the slower summer months and help you kick start your end-of-year fundraising plan.
