It's the "Salsa Weekly Highlight," your quick hit on what's new in Salsa to help get the most out of your online program. As always, you can find plenty more news, updates, and conversation throughout the week on SalsaCommons.org.
I've got a great little feature to share with you this week to give your pages more user-friendly web address URLs ... like
As of yesterday, you should have started seeing this new feature available in all Salsa-built pages (except Actions and Events), in the floating yellow box where you can also switch the page's template.
Pretty self-explanatory, right?
To change a long default Salsa URL to a friendly short URL:
- Click 'Create' next to 'Short URL'
- Enter a single, case-insensitive word (dashes are allowed).
- Click 'Save'
Your "View Page" links should thereafter show your custom shortened URLs automatically, though any existing links pointing to the long default Salsa URL will also continue to work.
That's really all there is to it, but you can find out anything else at the short URL documentation.
Hopefully, your organization's supporters will enjoy the intuitive and search-friendly URLs just as much as you. Drop me a note if you have any feedback on this tool, or just chime in on Salsa Commons.
