December and the busy year-end fundraising season may seem like months away, but now is actually the time to get ready and develop a plan of action.
Why so early you might ask?
End-of-year fundraising doesn’t just happen in December, it takes months of building lists, inspiring and cultivating donors and testing and analyzing metrics to make the absolute most of end-of-year opportunities. It also means looking for ways to take advantage of national movements like #GivingTuesday (the nonprofit equivalent of Black Friday to be held this year on December 3) that can dramatically boost donations for nonprofits during the peak-giving season.
In fact, here at Salsa we queried our own clients and found that organizations raised 190% more money on #GivingTuesday in 2012 than they did on the same day in 2011, and they also out-performed organizations that did not promote #GivingTuesday by 170%.
So how can you prepare your nonprofit so that you can get ahead of the curve and secure your share of year-end funds by adding #GivingTuesday to the mix?
Join myself, and Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday for a webinar on July 24 at 2 PM ET.
We’ll discuss how your non-profit can use #GivingTuesday (December 3, 2013) as part of a wider online and offline campaign to help increase your end-of-year funding. We’ll offer tips for building your campaign and share insights from other non-profits who got a boost thanks to their #GivingTuesday participation last year.
