To the staff here at Salsa, our job isn't just about the paycheck. Most of us are involved in the nonprofit and progressive communities already, and working here is just another way to engage with the issues we care about and support. Salsa clients advocate for a broad spectrum of issues; everything from stopping the SOPA bill in Congress to protecting members of the military who have been sexually assaulted. And this October Salsa clients, like the Women’s Information Network, advocated for an end to domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
To show our support on Purple Thursday Awareness Day, Salsa staff wore purple outfits and accessories to raise awareness and celebrate domestic violence survivors. We wore purple because our staff believes everyone deserves healthy, happy and safe relationships. Purple Thursday is part of a month long series of awareness activities organized by the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCCADV) to engage corporate partners, local businesses, government agencies and other nonprofits. Participants in Purple Thursday also utilized social media to help amplify the cause and gain new partners in the movement to end violence.
We want to hear about the issues your organization is working on and how Salsa can help you with your mission. Email or call your account manager to keep us posted on the work you're doing. A special thanks to our account manager, Molly Heinsler who organized our participation in Purple Thursday.
