Who’s Your Data – May 2012 Edition

by Shawn Rahmani, Data Specialist, Salsa

That’s right all you online organizers – The Salsa legislator database has been updated with the latest file from our data vendor.

This file contains over 300 legislator updates since last month. And over 150 plus updates to committees. I believe I stress this in every update but we do take our data integrity very seriously. In addition to uploading the updates monthly, we keep up with as many legislator updates as we can by checking websites like Washington Watch and and THOMAS. As you are creating communication channels with your supporters and urging them to take action on issues that are relevant to your causes, it is important that you are targeting the right elected officials with the most up-to-date information.

I attended the Legislative Data and Transparency Conference this past year and witnessed methodology firsthand regarding transparency and accessibility of legislative data and information accessible by the general public. It was extremely fascinating. If you have a moment and are interested, please check out the presentation slides on the LDTC website.

If you see any issues with this month’s legislator updates please feel free to let me know or e-mail.
