Small Business Saturday- Shop Local, Help Local

by Beth Johnson, Communication Manager, Salsa

Did you know that when you shop at a local retailer, $0.68 of every $1 spent goes right back into your community? Compare that to just $0.42 in a big box store.

If you’re going to kick off your holiday shopping this weekend, consider participating in Small Business Saturday. Designed by small business advocacy groups and supported by American Express (nice to see Corporate America helping out too), today is the day to show your local brick-and-mortar retailers that they matter. And you’ll be doing a good thing for the infrastructure of your local community (or that of your parents, in-laws or other close family relative with whom you’ve spent Thanksgiving weekend) in the process.
