Great news, it just got a whole lot easier for nonprofits to receive donations via their Facebook pages and advertising.
Yesterday, Facebook announced that it’s introducing a new “Donate Now” call to action option on both link ads and pages.
You may recall that Facebook launched a “Donate” button a couple of years ago, however this was reserved for specific causes like The Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. This time it’s a bit different. Instead of making donations within Facebook, the new button directs supporters to any donation page of your choosing, including an existing donation page on your website.
This may be a good thing for nonprofits whose supporters were wary of handing over payment information to Facebook (who also kept that information on file) and prefer to go the direct route straight to your donation page. Either way, we think it’s a great move.
Here are a few things to bear in mind as you get ready to add the button:
The "Donate Now" button is rolling out to Page's listed as a "Non-Profit Organization".
If you’re creating a web ad, learn how to add the “Donate Now” link to your ad.
